GambetDC is Washington, DC’s world class sports betting platform. It is a new betting experience in the District that makes live betting and wagering on sporting events just as easy as watching them. Whether you bet using the GambetDC app or website, you can bet with friends, have fun, game responsibly, and join a community of winners.

As of December 29, 2020, William Hill’s mobile sportsbook is live in Washington D.C. The launch followed approval by the D.C. office of Lottery and Gaming.
- The GambetDC website is available to the general public with this initial soft launch release. The native iOS and Android apps will be deployed in the coming weeks. Upon full deployment, the GambetDC platform will be available via native application download on both iOS and Android as well as accessible via desktop.
- After delaying the launch due to the coronavirus pandemic, GambetDC, powered by the DC Lottery, is live, at least through your browser. Android and iOS apps will be launching soon. Normally, the launch of a new market is a cause for celebration. In the case of GambetDC, however, skeptics are keeping a close eye on things.
The catch? The William Hill sportsbook is only available for use within a two-block radius surrounding D.C.’s Capital One Arena. This excludes federal buildings, slightly limiting the options for mobile players.

Will Hill Goes To Washington
William Hill’s mobile launch in Washington D.C. follows a number of developments for the operator with regard to the growing D.C. market. In July, William Hill launched a pop-up sportsbook at the Capital One Arena. The company plans to open its full-fledged sportsbook in the arena sometime in 2021.
William Hill is also the exclusive sports betting partner of the Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Mystics (WNBA), and Monumental Sports & Entertainment.
The operator’s presence in the nation’s capital has made waves, too. William Hill’s retail sportsbook processed more than $13 million in bets during November 2020. The D.C. lottery-powered GambetDC, on the other hand, took in just under $4 million in handle. In other words, even without a mobile option, William Hill eclipsed its primary D.C. competitor. And if past trends are any indication, this mobile launch will only serve to widen the gap William Hill has opened up.
Despite limitations caused by Covid-19, including a full sports shut down and many betting venue closures, William Hill manages to outshine its lottery competition in 2020’s later months. William Hill’s mobile sportsbook, despite its two-block betting radius, could bring more players than ever before to the platform. Add one final development into the mix: William hill’s full-fledged retail sportsbook. The retail location at the Capital One Arena will replace Will Hill’s July pop-up, bringing the full sports betting experience to fans of Washington D.C.’s pro teams. This, too, could add to William Hill’s growing lead over the market’s Lottery.
